Home / Guides / How to leave a group date
Decide the ending first
Before you match, the crew picks a length. Ninety minutes is enough for a first meeting. Everyone knows how they are getting home, and someone who is not on the date knows the place. That message goes out before you sit down, not from the bathroom.
Say the end time once, early, as a fact. “We have to be out by nine.” You do not owe a medical excuse. A group date is a public plan with a clock, closer to a reservation than to a lock-in.
Leave as the crew
Stand up together. Thank them for the plan. Do not peel off one by one so the last friend has to invent a reason. If one person wants to stay and the others do not, the default is the plan you voted on: you arrived as a house and you leave as a house.
A second meeting between two people can be arranged later, in daylight, after the crews have already met. Deciding that on the pavement, away from your friends, throws out the reason you chose a group date.
When the night feels wrong
You do not finish a bad hour to be polite. Tell your crew the one-word version and go. “I came with them” is a complete sentence. If someone follows, argues, or tries to separate you, that is past etiquette. Leave and write to support@groupingokon.com.
Reporting and blocking in the app are still coming. The vote can stop a match before the meetup. It cannot fix a meetup that has already turned. The safer-plan guide is about that limit, not a promise that friends make every room safe.
Questions people ask
- Do we have to explain why we are going?
- No. The agreed end time is the explanation. A short thanks is enough.
- What if we want to see them again?
- Say so, still as a crew, and pick a second plan later. Interest does not require throwing out the ending you set.
