Be the house they voted for
The photos, the headcount, and the plan were the promise. Arrive with those people, in that neighborhood, for that mood. Adding surprise guests, changing a walk into a club, or sending one representative while the others “might come later” breaks the vote.
If the crew changed after you published, update the profile before you match. Chat is for the last details: where to stand and who is coming. It is not a place to renegotiate the night into something else.
Do not abandon your own friends
Pairing off in the first twenty minutes leaves someone babysitting a stranger’s friend. Talk to more than one person. If two of you are clearly interested, save the private conversation for a second plan. The first night belongs to both crews.
Include the quiet friend on purpose. Ask them the next question. A crew that lets one voice run the table is a solo date with witnesses, and the other house can tell.
Keep the ordinary no
Phones down. Drinks at a pace everyone already agreed to. No pressure to split the group, share a ride with someone you just met, or stay past the time. The leave guide is the practical version: stand up together and go.
A clear no after a decent hour is a successful piece of etiquette. Chasing someone who left, or mocking them in the group thread, is not. You can want a second plan and still let the first one end.
Questions people ask
- Who pays?
- Agree inside your own crew beforehand. Separate bills are the simplest default when nobody has paired off.
- Should we hug goodbye?
- A thanks is enough. Take the cue from the person in front of you, and do not make one friend’s comfort the joke of the walk home.
