What is group dating?

Group dating is a plan where you show up with friends you already trust, and another group does the same. The meeting is public, shared, and easier to leave.

It starts with people you already know

A normal dating app asks you to perform alone. You write the bio, choose the photos, and walk into a cafe with someone you have only texted. Group dating flips that order. You sit with friends first, then look for another crew that wants the same kind of night.

The friends are not a crowd of strangers you were assigned. They are the people who would have come with you anyway. That is the whole point: the social unit is the crew, and the date is something the crew does together.

Both sides have to want it

One person liking a profile is a nomination, not a plan. On Grouping, the crew votes. A majority has to say yes, and one veto stops the match. The other house has to match back before anyone is in a thread together.

That rule keeps a loud friend from dragging three hesitant people into a meetup. It also keeps chat closed while you are still deciding. You are not managing a private inbox at midnight before your friends have even seen the other group.

What Grouping is for

Grouping is a beta app for that shape of night. Your crew sits at a table, names the plan, and looks at other houses that are already out. Table is your own group. Tonight is the other seated houses. Chat is for planning the meetup after a mutual match.

It is not a promise that a match will become a relationship, and it is not a bar crawl with a logo. Reporting and blocking tools are still being finished. Until those ship, the safety you actually have is the crew you arrived with, the vote, and the option to leave.

Questions people ask

Is group dating the same as a double date?
No. A double date is usually two couples, often people who already paired off. Group dating is two friend groups meeting before anyone has paired off.
How many people do we need?
Grouping is built for a small crew, not a party. Houses that chat have at least two people. Bring friends who would actually spend the evening together.
